  • School Board in District 12 Vacancy

    There is currently a vacancy on the Calcasieu Parish School Board in District 12 (North/Central Sulphur). The district will accept letters of intent and résumés until Thursday, October 27, from those who are interested in temporarily filling the position. The appointee must live in District 12, be at least 18 years old, and must have lived in the district for at least a year and in the state for at least two years.

    After the deadline, board members will be provided copies of accepted résumés and will most likely make an appointment at board meeting in November. An election to permanently fill the vacancy will be held in March 2017.

  • “Don’t Be a Monster” Anti-Bullying Presentation happening throughout October

    The Calcasieu Parish School Board has teamed up with The Lost Hollows Haunted Trails to present the “Don’t Be a Monster” Anti-Bullying Presentation at several schools. Schools are taking the initiative to educate students on what bullying really is and providing them steps to help themselves and others if they encounter bullying behaviors. The presentations began the first week of October and will continue for the entire month.
