  • Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Irene Guillory for being selected as the 2016-2017 Dolby Teacher of the Year!!! Here are a few things our Dolby Family wrote in their nominations for Mrs. Guillory… Irene always has a smile on her face and it is evident to everyone that she loves kids and loves teaching! She always dresses professionally, maintains a positive attitude, works hard to ensure each child is successful and feels loved and special. She is flexible and works well under pressure and with any changes that come up. She is willing to help others and steps up to all challenges. Mrs. Guillory is a Seven Habits warrior! She makes each student feel special. Teaching and loving kids is her passion and it is most definitely her calling. Seeing her on the playground talking to her students makes me so happy to be her colleague! Her dedication to students is obvious every day in all of her actions. She always has a smile for everyone. We are so proud of Mrs. Guillory!

  • Student of the Year

Congratulations to Reece Patterson, our Dolby Elementary Student of the year for 2016-2017! We are so proud of you! A message from Reece: My favorite color is blue. I’ll eat just about anything that doesn’t run off my plate, and I have been known to read for hours after my bedtime. Who am I? I am Reece, Mr. Dolby 2016-2017 Student of the Year. Because I’m student of the year, I suppose that you may want to know a bit about me. My full name is Samuel Reece. Reece means enthusiastic for life, just so you know. I am 11 years old, and I’m the first born and only son of Heather and Joseph. I have four younger sisters, Ava being 8, Anna who is 6, Audrey who is 4 years of age, and a little baby Abbygail who is only 1. I’m a Star Wars freak. I first watched it when I was 5 years old. My family is huge! Well, my dad has 8 siblings and most of them have or had children. My mom, however, only has 2 siblings. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and I am an active member of a Boy Scout Pack. I like to cook, draw, write, play chess, and swim. As a student of Dolby, I try to be a leader every day by applying the 7 Habits to almost every situation. Not only do the 7 Habits influence my life, but Boy Scouts does too. The Scout Oath says, and I quote, “On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law. To help other people at all times, to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.” Every day brings new challenges, but that doesn’t mean we can’t overcome those obstacles and be the leaders we truly are.
