There is ample evidence that the role of
partnerships in education has changed and is changing with time. It is
necessary for the partnership movement to continue growing and revolving
if it is to play a vital part in the education of students in Southwest
Louisiana.
Partnerships provide effective mechanisms to establish relationships
between the community and the school for the purpose of enriching,
enhancing, and supporting existing educational programs. These programs
are extremely important because they establish trust relationships.
Successful solutions to problems in society and in our schools can be
realized only by developing a collective perspective of the problems and
being firmly committed to the sharing of responsibilities and resources
that are required to address them. This process will allow the needed
level of collaborative problem solving.
We are moving from cooperative efforts to collaborative efforts. This new
direction calls for the bringing together of the stakeholders for the
purpose of identifying priorities, building coalitions, and guiding the
development of an action plan to achieve the shared vision. Evidence of
success will be when positive change and documented improvements are
created school by school.
Through our efforts, our community will know what is going on in our
schools and we will clearly demonstrate to our citizens that we are
serious about education in Southwest Louisiana. |
