  • Sponsor an Individual Behavior Modification Party: Students that can maintain 75% of 100% of the total points including points for Academic and Behavior Modification are invited to attend an IBG party.
  • Honor Roll/Banner Roll Party: Citgo sponsors a party each 6 weeks period for all
    of the students that make Honor Banner Roll.
  • Honor Roll/Banner Roll Dinner: Any student that can make honor roll or banner
    roll for the entire year is invited to attend a luncheon and is given a special incentive (example: windbreaker, shirt, etc.)
  • Monetary Funds: Funds are given to the school for workshops to help teachers improve their skills and ideas which in turn assists the students  with achievement and lifelong learning.
J. D. Clifton Elementary and Westlake Group
  • Provides school supplies donated by employees through a school supply drive to students in need.
  • Provides newspapers for classroom use.
  • Annually encourages learning in the areas of Social Studies and Science by supplying judges and trophies for Science and Social Studies Fair winners.

Sam Houston High and PPG Industries
  • Student of the Month Award Luncheon – PPG hosts 2 students from each grade to lunch and gives each student a backpack or sports bag. The students are selected on academic excellence and leadership.
  • Shadow Day – PPG hosts 50 10th grade students twice a year to tour the Plant and “shadow” an employee. This gives the students a chance to see what goes on in the real world and begin making plans about their educational direction. PPG’s attitude is that everyone benefits; even the students that discover that they do not like the job that they shadowed and learned what job path not to take. As preparation for Shadow Day, PPG employees go to the school and talk to the Free Enterprise class about the jobs at PPG.
  • Prom Night Tragedy – This is a staged automobile accident near the school immediately before prom, emphasizing “Don’t Drink and Drive and Always Wear Your Seat Belt”. The State Police narrate the script as the EMT’s. Ward 1 Fire Department and the Sheriff’s Department work to extract the student “victims” from the wreckage. The realism of the event is intense when one of the students “dies” it has a major impact on the student audience. The student actors are selected based on their leadership in the school. The event is held every other year for juniors and seniors.
  • Vo-Tech Shadow Day – This is offered to the Vo-Tech/Agriculture class. PPG hosts about 25 students that are interested in pursuing careers as craftsmen. The students are split into 5 groups and tour the Machine Shop, Electric Shop, Garage, Carpenter Shop, and Welding Shop.
  • Tutoring Program – PPG associates volunteer to assist students before and after work in classes in which the student may need help.
  • The Partner in Education Team sponsors several other activities such as Career Day, Teacher Appreciation Day, speakers for classes, donation of scrap metal and scrap wood, etc.
I Iowa High and Dunham Price
  • Provided financing for shelves to be used in the English and Foreign Language Department. These shelves will be housed in the Resource Room where students will have access to an array of reading and resource material.
  • Supports the school newsletter to inform parents and students alike with valuable information concerning special events such as testing, sports, club news, etc.
  • The English Gifted Program received a donation to replenish its library and purchased a series of reading material for its classes.
  • Supplied the counselor’s office with material to be used by students to inquire about colleges. ACT preparation, career opportunities, scheduling, and other pertinent information.
  • Sponsored the 4H attendance at the bowling event for children with special needs.
  • Supported the Quiz Bowl Team.
  • Provided ink cartridges and other maintenance parts for the English Computer Lab.
  • The French and Spanish departments benefited from the generosity of Dunham Price through funds to purchase computer tutorial programs.
  • Sponsored trips for the Student Council, LSU Boys and Girls State, Literary Rally, and Danceline.
  • Purchased a collection of poetry and classical literature for the English Department.
  • Cookware for the Family and Consumer Sciences, transparencies for the Math Department, folders for the Business Department, computer trays, and many other items that help contribute to a better learning environment.

Iowa High and Farmers Rice Milling Company

  • Purchased paperback books for the SPARK program.
  • Financed the acquisition of a printer for the band department.
  • Maintenance and supplies for the copying machine in preparation for the LEAP Exam.
  • Sponsored events set up by the track and field department.
  • Assisted in the cost for the Student Council Convention in Shreveport.
  • Provided funds to purchase a scanner for the Publication class, World Geography videos, keyboard trays for the Math Computer Lab, folding upright panel units for the Art Department.

Iowa High and McDonald’s

  • Sponsored the Speech Team in its annual tournament.
  • Supported the Iowa Cross Country Team. The girls were lead by the returning State Champion and MVP Jackie Johnson.
  • French fries coupons for those students who have perfect attendance, Banner/Honor roll during the six weeks.
  • Financed the purchase of material to build shelves for the English and Foreign Language Departments.
  • Provided the Special Education Department with teaching material to enhance lifelong skills.
  • Supplied the 3.8 medals. These medals are awarded to students who have maintained an average of over 3.8 during the school year. This award encourages academic excellence and recognizes the effort and dedication of those students.
J John J. Johnson Elementary and Dr. Ordinario
  • Every six weeks, Dr. Ordinario's office encourages Honor and Banner Roll students by providing and serving pizza.
  • Dr. Ordinario's office provides folder to the entire student body at the beginning of the school year.
  • Dr. Ordinario allows the school chorus to sing Christmas carols to his patients and staff.
  • To promote good reading habits, Dr. Ordinario provides newspapers to the 4th graders throughout the school year.
  • Dr. Ordinario and staff served as career fair exhibitors for the 5th grade career fair.

  • Every six-weeks, KZWA announces Honor and Banner Roll students on the radio.
