  Troubleshooting Printer Problems on Macs

We have been receiving a lot of tech.help requests on printing problems on their Mac computers. There are many things you can do to troubleshoot the problem. If the printer has worked with that particular computer before and just stopped working properly, ask yourself some basic questions:
  1. Have I changed anything on the computer or printer (added a new device or software of moved locations)?
  2. Was it shut down properly last time I used it?
  3. Check to see that the printer cartridges have ink and the printhead is not dried out (we are seeing a lot of that due to the cold weather).
  4. Check your cables and connections. Make sure the printer is on and ready and you are printing to the printer you think you are.
  5. Open the Chooser and select the proper printer driver in the left-hand window, and then the correct printer in the right-hand window. If you can't see the correct printer, then it is a possible network problem.
  6. Delete and reinstall your printer driver.

Another good thing to try is to hook the printer up to another computer or another printer to that computer and see what happens. It will allow you to play detective and maybe determine in which device the problem lies.

By creating a vCalendar file, you can basically share your appointment information with anybody else who has vCalendar compatible software. (vCalendar files typically contain individual appointments or scheduling items

To create a vCalendar file, select an appointment, click File | Save As, and set the file type to vCalendar Format (*.vcs). Now (like a vCard), this vCalendar file can be attached to outgoing e-mails.
