Summer
Reminder Regarding Your Email Account |
|
Please
remember to write down and store your email and log on
password in a safe place for the summer. We always have many
requests upon return to school to reset passwords because
they have been forgotten. Due to the large demand to create
accounts for new employees at the same time, your ability to
check your email may be hindered.
Any email account that
accumulates a large volume of email over the summer will be
emptied. If you are not going to check email over the
summer, you should remove your name from listservs, etc.
Remember, your CPSB email account can be used throughout
the summer from any Internet connected computer! To
use your CPSB email account, go to
www.cpsb.org and click on
"Employee Email".
IMPORTANT!!!!!
Viewing email this way will NOT
remove your mail from
the
server!!! Your mail box will continue to fill up. To
remove items from your mail box, select the item(s) you want
to delete and click the "DELETE" icon then click the "Empty
Deleted Item Folder" icon. These icons are located near the
top of the screen. |

If
you own an Iomega Zip drive, or are planning to get one, the
infamous “Click of Death” could be on its way to you. The
"Click of Death" happens when an Iomega Zip drive starts
making a clicking noise when reading a Zip disk. One click
is normal (that’s the read-heads snapping into place to
acquire the media), but any more than one, and you have the
“Click of Death.” If this happens to you, eject the disk
immediately. If it’s not possible to eject the disk, unplug
the Zip drive, or shut down your computer. The "Click of
Death" makes an entire Zip disk completely unreadable.
Although no fault of your own, all information on the Zip
disk is wiped out in an instant. |

Take a Shortcut to
Hibernation |
|
|
|
Here's
a quickie keyboard shortcut for those of you who
like to put Windows XP into hibernation instead of
the standard shutdown.
-
Select Start | Turn
Off Computer.
-
While in the Shut
Down box, hold down the Shift key and hit the H
key.
-
The computer will
instantly hibernate.
-
Remember that
Hibernate is useful because it saves the status of
your Windows XP session (all the programs and
documents you have open) to the hard drive, so it
can automatically restore it the next time you
power up.

Quickly Address A
Message To Multiple Contacts |
|
|
Here's
a fast and simple shortcut to address an email to multiple
people:
-
Click
Contacts.
-
Select
the contacts you want to send a message to by clicking the
first contact, holding down CTRL, and then clicking on
additional contacts.
-
Drag
the selected contacts onto the Inbox on the Outlook
Shortcuts bar (or in the Folder List).
-
A new
message appears with the names of the contacts you
selected on the To: line.
You can
also use this technique to send a message to only one
contact. |

Make a Personal
Screen Saver in Windows XP |
|
|
|
In
the past it was near impossible to create a
personal screen saver using your own photo
collection. Here's how to take the pictures stored
in your My Pictures folder and display them in
random order as a screen saver in XP.
To make a personal screen saver in XP, follow
these directions:
-
Right-click an
empty spot on your desktop and choose
Properties.
-
Click the Screen
Saver tab inside the Display Properties dialog
box.
-
In the Screen
Saver pull-down menu, choose "My Pictures
Slideshow."
-
Underneath the
Screen Saver pull-down menu, adjust the time of
inactivity before Windows will initiate your
screen saver.
-
Click Settings to
make additional adjustments. You'll be able to
adjust transition effects between pictures, how
frequently they change, what size the pictures
should be, and more.
-
Click OK when
you're done tweaking the settings adjustments.
-
Click the Preview
button to see what your screen saver looks like.
-
If everything is
to your liking, click Apply.

|
As
with most Microsoft applications, you can easily customize
the Outlook toolbar so that it contains only the buttons you
really use. With the toolbar visible on the screen,
right-click an area free of buttons and choose Customize. In
the window on the left, you'll see available unused buttons;
on the right, you'll see those that are currently in use.
Select a button in either window and click Add or Remove.
Choose Close to finish or Reset to restore your toolbar to
its original settings. Continue until you've got the toolbar
exactly how you want it. |

of the virus, the number of infected files found, and the
percentage of the virus from the total.
