Where is that?
Do your students need practice in locating countries on a map?  “Where is That”? is a geography game where players are shown a continent with a nation or state highlighted. The easiest level is multiple choice and the hardest level requires that you type in the capital (spelled correctly). This game is challenging for everyone from late elementary students to United Nations.  http://www.funbrain.com/where/index.html

Automatically Add the Date or Time to Your Documents
Have you ever wanted to insert the date into a Word document automatically? Well, you can easily insert the date in Microsoft Word using the Insert Menu. Then click on Date and Time. Several formats are available from which to choose. You are sure to find the one that suits your needs. OR, If your AutoComplete is turned on, once you begin typing the date the Word program will prompt you to press ENTER to accept the current date.   You can also automatically insert the current date in Microsoft Excel and Access simply by clicking in the appropriate cell and then pressing the Control key + semicolon.
Backup Up Word Documents in Windows 95
Windows 95 comes with the Backup utility. To use this built-in application to regularly back up all the Word documents on your computer, follow these steps:
  • Launch "MSBackup.exe", located under Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools, and select the drives you want to include in your backup.
  • Go to Settings | File Filtering.
  • Choose "Select All" to select all the registered file types.
  • Click "Exclude" to copy these to the Excluded list in the window below.
  • In this bottom window, highlight the .doc extension, and then click Delete. The .doc extension is no longer excluded from the backup.
  • Choose the destination for the backup and save the file set.

Now, when you want to back up your Word documents, run Backup, select "Open File Set" from the File menu, and choose the file set you just saved. The backup program will then back up all your .doc files to the destination you specified.

Microsoft XP Tip
Depending on your screen resolution, a certain number of icons fit in each auto-arranged column along the desktop. Here’s how to adjust your icon spacing:
  • Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties.
  • In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Appearance tab, and then click Advanced.
  • In the Item box, click Icon Spacing (Vertical).
  • Decrease the size, click OK, then click Apply to see the result on screen.
  • When you’re happy with the results, click OK.

Top Ten Viruses Found on CPSB Computers
Here are the top ten viruses found on CPSB computers in the past 7 days. The stats are based on 310 infected computers out of a total of 5740 OfficeScan clients.

The information shows the name of the virus, the number of infected files found, and the percentage of the virus from the total.  ALL school board employees need to ensure that their Dell, Compaq, HP, IBM or other PC classroom computers stay virus free. Go to the following link to download the district copy of OfficeScan: http://teacherlink.cpsb.org/officescan and your computer will automatically be updated daily to scan for the latest viruses. You must install the software using Internet Explorer 4.0 or later (Netscape will not work!!!!!) Please answer "Yes" to all prompts as the software installs. If you have any questions, please contact the CPSB Help Desk at tech.help@cpsb.org.
