Kids Voting
Only 51% of Americans voted in the last Presidential election! Do we have a problem? This site sets out to positively impact the future of civic participation in the voting process. In 1988, three businessmen from Arizona traveled to Costa Rica on a fishing trip. During their visit they learned that the country’s voter turnout is typically around 90 percent. This high turnout was attributed to a tradition of children accompanying their parents to the polls. The men were intrigued by the idea, but also recognized a missing link to education. They launched a school-based pilot project in a Phoenix suburb that has since grown into the national Kids Voting organization. Learn more at http://www.kidsvoting.org.

Weather Scope
Weather Scope: An Investigative Study of Weather and Climate is an Internet-based multidisciplinary project which will enrich a student's learning experience through "Unique and Compelling" applications of instructional technology. In particular, this project taps into some of the exciting applications of the Internet in education by having students access real time weather data, interact with experts online, and publish their own work to the project web site. This standards-based Real Time Data Module has been created for use by students in the elementary and middle school grades to allow them to investigate weather phenomena both locally and in other places around the world.  http://www.k12science.org/curriculum/weatherproj2/en/index.shtml
