Microsoft Word 2003 Tip
|
When
using Word 2003 to open a Word document from an e-mail
message, the document opens in reading layout view. This
view displays your document like pages in a book. The pages
are designed to fit well on your screen— and text is
automatically displayed using Microsoft ClearType
technology, which makes the document more legible. You can
still mark up the document with suggestions and comments as
you read, and you can send it back to the author as an
attachment with all of your changes. However, it does not
always layout the way it looks in the Print Layout View.
To prevent Reading Layout
view from opening automatically when you receive a Word
document in e-mail, do the following: On the Tools menu,
click Options, click the General tab, and then
clear the Allow starting in Reading Layout check box.

Word Tip - Indenting Paragraphs With One Click
|
A
popular method for indenting paragraphs is to drag Word's
First Line Indent marker to the desired position on the
ruler. But this method is also the most difficult for new
users, who often end up changing the left margin instead.
However, there's an alternative method that lets you indent
with a single click. Follow these steps:
- Select the paragraph
or paragraphs you want to indent.
- Click the button at
the left end of the horizontal ruler until it displays
the First Line Indent marker.
- Click the ruler where
you want to set the indent.
For example, to indent your
paragraph one inch, click 1 on the ruler. You can also
use this procedure to set a hanging indent. Just choose the
Hanging Indent marker on the left end of the ruler before
making your selection. |
