Kindergarten and Pre-K
Registration for the 2012-13 school year will be held
the week of February 13 -17, 2012.
Registration will be held at the school after obtaining a Permit to Register from the Office of Child Welfare and
Attendance.

Kindergarten
registration for the 2012-13 school year will be held
the week of February 13-17, 2012.
KN
Registration is for the following:
·
Students entering the Calcasieu Parish School System for the FIRST
time as a Kindergarten student.
·
All current 2011-12 Pre-K Students
·
Students that are NOT anticipating a change of address
·
All students must enroll in their IN ZONE SCHOOL
Registration
will be held at the school in the zone in which the parent/legal guardian
lives.
Children
enrolling in Kindergarten for the 2012-13 session must reach the age of five
(5) on or before September 30, 2012.
Students
living in
Lake Charles Schools (Ward 3)
All
students residing in Ward 3 (Lake Charles Schools) must obtain a Permit to Register for their IN
ZONE SCHOOL.
REMINDER: CWA no longer makes
copies. PARENTS must provide
copies.
Permit To Register
Information
In
order to obtain a Permit to Register, parents/guardians should take copies of the documents listed below to
the Office of Child Welfare and Attendance located at 2423 Sixth Street in Lake
Charles between the hours of 8:00 – 11:30 and 1:00 – 3:30 beginning February 13.
Documents Needed
·
An official certified copy of the child’s birth certificate
(hospital records are not accepted).
·
The child’s social security card (Original and copy)
·
Two (2) recent utility statements/bills from 2 separate
companies with the name and address of the parent/legal guardian. One statement/bill must be from the electric
company. A current rent/lease agreement
may serve as the other documentation.
·
Legal custody papers signed by the judge – if applicable
·
The school must also be
provided with a current immunization card.
If
the parent/legal guardian is living with someone else and has no utility
statements/bills in his/her name, the following is needed:
·
A notarized statement from the person with whom the parent/legal
guardian is living verifying this.
This statement should contain the following:

The name of the person they are living with
¨ The address of the
person they are living with
¨ The parent’s name
¨ The child’s name
·
Two (2) recent utility statements/bills from 2 separate
companies with the name and address of the person they are living
with. One statement/bill must be from
the electric company. A current
rent/lease agreement may serve as the other documentation.

All other documents as listed above
Louisiana
birth certificates can now be obtained for $l5 at the Lake Charles branch of
the Calcasieu Parish Health Unit located at 3236 Kirkman
Street between the hours of 8:30 – 3:00.
Permits
will be issued beginning Monday,
February 13th Child

T. S. COOLEY MAGNET SCHOOL
Cooley
will be accepting registrations for
Parents/guardians
interested in the magnet program should go directly to T. S. Cooley and
register the child in order to be tested.
¨
Students NOT currently enrolled in a Calcasieu Parish Public
School are required to bring the child’s original birth certificate, social
security card, immunization card, the most recent report card, and the $15
testing fee.

Student currently enrolled in a Calcasieu Parish Public
School are required to bring the most recent report card and the $15 testing
fee.
All
grades will be tested during April. The
top scores will be accepted according to the number of available spaces. Parents will be notified of the test results
in May.
T.S.
Cooley does NOT have Pre-K.
Pre-K registration for the
2012-13 school year will be held the week of
February 13-17. Registration will be
held each day at the school. All
questions should be directed to the Pre-K office at 217-4210 or the appropriate
school.
Permits to Register are not issued for Pre-K students.
