The purpose of this letter is to inform you
about a very important piece of legislation that has been in effect since its
enactment by the 2003 Louisiana Legislature.
Please be advised that ACT 732 of the 2003
Legislative Session provides for the suspension of driving privileges of a
student who is expelled or suspended from school or assigned to an alternative
educational setting for ten or more consecutive days for committing certain
infractions. These infractions are as follows:

The sale or possession of drugs,
alcohol, or any other illegal substance |
|
|
The possession of a firearm |
|
|
Any infraction involving
assault or battery on a member of the school faculty or staff |
Welfare and Attendance
will notify the Department of Public Safety and Corrections of any student between
the ages of fourteen and eighteen who has been subjected to a disciplinary
action as defined by R. S. 17:416.1 (D).
