Calcasieu Parish School System was awarded a million dollar Advanced Placement Incentive Program grant to put into place over a three year period Advanced Placement courses in Calcasieu Parish Schools.  Calcasieu was one of only three Louisiana parishes to receive this grant.

    Advanced Placement classes are college-level courses taught to interested students in high school.  This grant expands the number of classes offered from 19 to 50.  It puts AP courses in English, math, science, and social studies into 9 high schools and provides AP prep support in 11 middle schools.
