EMPLOYEE HEALTH INSURANCE
The Calcasieu Parish School Board shall contract with a health care provider for health, hospitalization, and life insurance benefits for its eligible employees, retirees, and/or their spouses and children. The School Board may pay any portion of an employee's premium it so designates.
RETIREE HEALTH BENEFITS
The retirees in the CPSB health insurance plan by December 30, 2003, will have CPSB fund 62% of their premium and 50% of the premium of covered dependents. After that deadline, retirees with less than one year in the plan will not receive any contribution by the Board for their premium; those with 1 year to less than 10 years will have 16% of their premium funded by CPSB and 12% of their dependent's premium funded; 10 years to less than 15 years, 32% for retiree's share and 25% for dependents; 15 years to less than 20 years, 47% for retiree's and 38% for dependents, and 20 years or more, 62% funding and 50% for dependents' premium.
Spouses employed by the school system and enrolled in the health insurance program prior to the December 30 deadline may change coverage categories after the deadline as long as there has been uninterrupted participation in the plan prior to the adjustment.
