    This time of year T.S. Cooley's students are busy with school work, tests, after school activities and sports. In all of this busyness Cooley's students are taking a few minutes to think about all the good things they have in their lives. This is what they shared.   • T.S. Cooley 4th Grader's Art Work To Be Featured on Citgo's Billboard in 2016

    Hannah N. recently won the billboard art contest at Citgo Lake Charles. Her art was chosen from all of the entries and will be featured in 2016 on the Citgo billboard at the complex's main entrance. Hannah also received a $50 visa gift card for her winning entry.

  • Louisiana Young Readers Choice Book Ad Competition Winners

    T.S. Cooley 5th graders designed digital ads for the LA Young Readers Choice Books. The overall winners in the book ad competition were Olivia D. and Joy D. with their ad design for the book Mountain Dog. In Mrs. Orndoff’s class the winners were: 1st Place - Isabel F. and Hallie P. - Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library, 2nd Place - Kamyrn K. and Olivia D. - Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library, and 3rd Place - Abigail P. and Flora G. - Brave Girl. In Mrs. Thibodeaux’s class the winners were: 1st Place - Devin H. and Seth W. - Hoop Genius, 2nd Place - Nate S. and Drake B. - Henry and the Cannons, and 3rd Place - Olivia F. and Rhayla C. - Rump: The True Story of Rumpelstiltskin.

  • T.S. Cooley Chess Team Successful at Houston Tournament

    Twenty Cooley chess club members competed in the 2015 US Class Championship Scholastic Tournament on Saturday, November 14 in Houston. The K-2nd Grade Team placed 1st in their section and the K-5th Grade Team placed 2nd in their section. Taylor B. earned a trophy for placing 9th in the K-2nd Grade Section and Ivan L. earned a trophy for placing 10th in the same section. Other chess club members who competed were: Eli S., Matthew C., Mahad J., Mathius R., Jai P., Ethan S., Shreya T., Jake S., Minh T., Robby F., Zachary L., Austin B., Luke G., Camden Y., Benjamin D., Jacob S., Ashton Q., and Jordan M. Mrs. Lanier and Mrs. Babaz, club sponsors, were very proud of the students' chess playing skills and excellent behavior at the tournament.   • KPLC TV News Anchors John Bridges and Brittney Glaser Visit T.S. Cooley

    T.S. Cooley Elementary students were excited to welcome John Bridges and Brittney Glaser to their Friday morning assembly recently. The 7News Sunrise anchors were on campus to discuss with students ways to improve their communication skills. Both anchors reinforced the knowledge that how one portrays oneself to others is extremely important. Their message was well received and will leave a lasting impression.   • T.S. Cooley Students Raised $2,734.50 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

    T.S. Cooley students raised $2,734.50 to help find a cure for blood cancer. The winning class was Mrs. Cappel’s 4th graders with $515.99. Mrs. Babaz’s 2nd graders raised $508.78, Mrs. Guidry’s 1st graders raised $345 and Mrs. Rion’s 3rd graders raised $217.11. Thank you to all who participated.

  • T. S. Cooley Pumpkin Contest Winners Announced

    This year's pumpkin contest was a huge success. The overall winner in the K-1st age group was Jace S. His pumpkin's theme was based on the book "Where the Wild Things Are". In the 2nd through 3rd grade age group the best overall pumpkin was created by Peyton A. based on the book, "The Bride of Frankenstein Does Not Bake Cookies".
