  • T.S. Cooley Girl Scout Troop 401 Members Donate Cookies

    Girl Scout Troop 401 donated over 200 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to the Ronald McDonald House in Houston! They were inspired by the collection of coke tabs at school to chose the Ronald McDonald House as the recipient of their Gift of Caring cookies. The girls were very excited to be able to visit the Ronald McDonald house and speak with the staff. They learned about how it was founded, their mission and what exactly the house does to support the families of sick children. Pictured are the members of Girl Scout Troop 401 who attend T.S.   • T.S. Cooley Students Receive Awards for Law Day Essays and Posters

    T.S. Cooley students participated in the annual Law Day Essay and Poster Competition. Recently five of the winners attended the awards ceremony at the Old Court House in downtown Lake Charles. In second grade, Taylor B. in Mrs. Tarrara Babaz’s class won 1st place and Mathius R. in Mrs. Julia Thompson’s class won 2nd place in the poster competition. In third grade, Sophia M. in Mrs. Shelly Rion’s class won 1st place for her essay. In fourth grade, Sydney F. in Mrs. Angie Schmitt’s class won 1st place and in Mrs. Sarah Cappel’s class Zoe C. won 2nd place and Brody T. won 3rd place for their essays. First place winners read their essays and showed their posters and won pizza parties for their homeroom classes compliments of the Law Firm of Stutes and Lavergne.   • T.S. Cooley Chess Members Compete at National Chess Tournament

    T.S. Cooley had seven chess students compete in the 2016 National Elementary (K-6) Championships in Nashville, TN in May. Those students were: Jai P., Matthew C., Chris M., Ethan W., Camden Y., Ashton Q., and Ivan L. The boys competed against players from all across the United States including Missouri, Texas, New York, Minnesota, Kentucky and Kansas. They played well and did a great job representing our school, district and state.

  • Louisiana Body Walk Exhibit Set Up For Students at T.S. Cooley

    The students had an opportunity to walk through the human body and stop to learn about making healthy choices and the importance of physical activity for overall health.

  • T.S. Cooley Ballroom Dance Team Performs with Style and Grace at the Colors of the Rainbow Dance Competition

    T.S. Cooley’s 5th Grade Ballroom Dance Team competed at Burton Coliseum this past weekend where they were awarded the Gold Award and the State Championship Award. Team Members are: Seth W., Emily W., Kailey E., Mckenzie B. (co-captain), Joelle G., Kadence W., Evan W., Nate S., Jax C., Ty L., Camden Y. (co-captain) and Flora G. The team has been invited to Baton Rouge in June to compete at the USA DanceSport Gumbo Competition.

  • T.S. Cooley 4th Grader Named 4-H Outstanding Elementary Boy of 2016

    T.S. Cooley 4th grader, Austin B. was named Outstanding Elementary 4-H Boy 2016 for Calcasieu Parish at their recent 4-H banquet. Austin is President of the T.S. Cooley 4-H Club and is an active member of the 4-H shotgun club. He has also competed in various other 4-H competitions.

  • 4th Grader Makes T.S. Cooley Proud at 4-H State Archery Competition

    T.S. Cooley 4th grader Janey M. placed 8th in the 4-H Shooting Sports (Archery) State Competition held this past weekend in Gonzales. Other accomplishments this year include placing 13th at the Southern Regional competition, 4th at the Crying Eagle Invitational, and 2nd at the Calcasieu Parish Tournament.   • T.S. Cooley Choir and Piano Students Shine on Stage

    The T. S. Cooley Choir received the Sweepstakes trophy at both the District and State levels. They received Superior ratings from all judges. The T. S. Cooley Leadership Choir performed "Carmina Burana" with the Lake Charles Symphony April 16. Three T. S. Cooley students (pictured) placed at the District Piano Rally at McNeese recently. Julia J. won first place in Prep B (4th & 5th grades); Ethan W. won first place in Prep A (1st & 2nd grades); and Taylor B. won 3rd place in Prep A. They will perform in the Rally Honors Recital in May.

  • T.S. Cooley Plays Well at Louisiana State Chess Championship Tournament

    Eighty-eight players competed at the Louisiana State Chess Championship that was hosted by T.S. Cooley at F.K. White Middle School. The T.S. Cooley winners were: Teams: K-2nd Grade Section - 3rd Place: Ethan W., Mahad J., and Chris M.'s scores made the team score of 8 points. K- 4th Grade Section - 1st Place State Champions: Minh T., Jake S., and Austin B.'s scores made the team score of 11 points. K-6th Grade Section - 2nd Place: Ashton Q., Jordan M., and Camden Y.'s scores made the team score of 6 points. Individual Winners: K-2nd Grade Section -1st Place State Champion: Ethan W. (perfect 4.0 points score), K- 4th Grade Section - 1st Place State Champion: Minh T. (perfect 4.0 points score plus an extra point for a playoff game), 2nd Place: Jake S., 5th Place: Austin B., 7th Place: Zachary L., and 8th Place: Shreya T.
