Mrs. Shonda Manual, Co-Creative Director at Healthy Image Marketing, has been teaching 5th grade students advertising skills during their library time. After learning basic ad designs and techniques, the fifth graders paired off and designed advertisements for the LA Young Reader Book Award books. Guest judge, Barbara VanGossen, Creative Director of Healthy Image Marketing, had the difficult task of choosing the top three ads in each class and an overall winner, as all were T.S. Cooley " top quality". The Overall Winners are Braidy P. and Mason R. in Ms. Coyne's class. They designed an advertisement for the book Pickle. Congratulations to Aubree J. in Mrs. Canik's 5th grade Advanced Art Class for winning the “From the Classroom to a 5K” T-shirt Logo Contest. Aubree’s winning design will be on the shirts worn by the participants.

T.S. Cooley Elementary once again had a very successful fall fundraiser. A big thank you to all the students who participated. Special prizes were given to the top three sellers: 1st Place - Josiah S., 2nd Place - Emma Y., and 3rd Place - Collin H.
Top Selling Classrooms will be celebrating their top sales with a Party in a Box. In grades K-2 the top class is Mrs. Blevin's kindergarten class. In grades 3-5 the winning class is Mrs. Schmitt's 4th grade class. Each grade level also recognized the top seller and that student received a life size superman bear. The bear winners are: Kindergarten - Emma Y., 1st grade - Brenna B., 2nd Grade - Holland H., 3rd Grade - Collin H., 4th Grade - Josiah S. and 5th Grade - Hayley C.
Help us help those who are less fortunate, by collecting canned goods for the Oak Park Food Pantry. Collected items will be given to families over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Suggested items include: Green beans, green peas, corn, mixed vegetables, soup, canned meats, fruit cocktail, pork ‘n beans, grape jelly, peanut butter and macaroni and cheese.
The students at Cooley celebrated meeting their three school-wide goals for the first nine weeks. 264 students in grades 1st- 5th met their AR Goal this nine weeks passing the goal set at 231 students. The Outstanding Conduct Goal for our K-5 students was 231 and 264 students made an “O” in conduct for the first nine weeks.The final school-wide goal was for 261 students to make Honor or Banner Roll for the first nine weeks. Cooley had 284 students on the Honor or Banner Roll! Since all three goals were met by the students, T.S. Cooley had a school-wide celebration on October 23rd! Students were rewarded with a Flops and Pops Day.They wore flip flops to school and receive a popsicle at second recess. They also had an extra 10 minutes of afternoon recess to celebrate. Congratulations for meeting the three school-wide goals for the first nine weeks.
