Get Your Game Face On: Teaching Programming (and Thinking) in a Fun and Painless Way
presented by
Jessica Fuselier,
Anderson Middle School
Description:
If you can’t beat them, don’t join them. Be better and smarter than them! Are you interested in TEACHING HIGH-LEVEL ANALYTICAL THINKING SKILLS to your computer technology students using an approach that has an INCREDIBLY HIGH MOTIVATING FACTOR for students? (OK, so who wouldn’t be?) Oh, and did I mention that the software is FREE??? What more could we teachers ask? I will be teaching you the basics of Scratch computer programming (It is a drag-and-drop programming environment, like programming for dummies; so don’t be scared!) in order to create simple games. I will share with you several projects that I have done in my middle school classes, and you will leave with a CD containing project directions and sample Scratch files that you can use the next day. Get your game face on, and join me for a fun experience.
Audience: Middle School
Format:
Hands-On Lab (1 hr. 45 min.)
