Differentiated Instruction Achieve3000's Web-based Literacy Solution (KidBiz 2nd-5th/TeenBiz 6th-12th)
presented by Carolyn Swift, Achieve3000
Description:  To give you a brief recap of Achieve3000, our philosophy is simple: There is only one way to enable students to reach and then exceed the appropriate grade level — teaching them one-on-one, at their level. This is a widely accepted principle, but one that is often difficult for principals and teachers to accomplish. KidBiz (2nd-5th) and TeenBiz (6th-12th) use their own proprietary engine to extend the teacher. The programs include an online Lexile assessment tool for initial student placement and daily nonfiction reading content that is precisely and scientifically matched to each student’s reading ability. All students in the class read about the same current news events, but the passage and follow-up activities adjust for their individual learning profiles. A Spanish version makes the program accessible for students with limited English proficiency, ongoing assessment – built into the daily instructional routine – monitors student progress and automatically adjusts the content to meet students’ needs. A powerful reporting package gives teachers and administrators ongoing diagnostic data on student performance in and out of school, LA standards based and Bloom’s taxonomy driven, anytime, anywhere access that gives students more time on task. Seventy percent of our students use the program after school and in library settings. Come and see the power of differentiated instruction!
