Description:  On-line Learning Management System has been highlighted as a new curriculum delivery system for distance learning in higher education as they can provide dispersed students with a wealth of interaction and richest learning experiences. Although well-designed communication pathways among an instructor and students plays a crucial role to the success of online learning, there are still a great need of supporting students’ motivation towards an online class. The purpose of this presentation is to provide a new instructional approach to improve the online learners’ motivation and learning interest by employing emerging multimedia technologies. First, motivation and learning interest aspects of online learning are discussed based on Keller’s ARCS motivational design theory and learning interest theory. Second, Learner Created Learning Contents (LCLC) is suggested as an instructional strategy to increase learner’s motivation in online classes.
