Literature Circles
Using Palm Handhelds

Steps:
1. To begin a Literature Circle, select a story from Adobe Acrobat Reader on the PALM.
    "The Little Time Thief" (Elementary)
    "Jack and the Lump of Clay" (Elementary)
    " The Giant Who Cried Waterfalls" (Elementary)
   
"The Bet" (Middle/High)

2. Group students according to their literature choice. 
3. Assign jobs within the groups to facilitate participation.   see examples on Resource Tab
4. USE YOUR PALM- Using Adobe Acrobat Reader on the Palm Handheld, click on the the story, read silently.
5. Questions are located on the RESOURCE Tab (provides questions to be answered for higher order thinking skills)
Each group member will answer questions from the story, record answers, and generate original discussion the questions and thoughts in MEMOS on the PALM
6. Group Discussion- Encourage students to share comments, thoughts, and discussion questions about story during group discussion.
7. USE YOUR PALM-Using the Palm software, Book Log, students will record book read and date.
(Note select stories at differentiated levels and guide students with choice according to ability.)
