Elementary Grades- Biopoem
Use the following lesson plan to create a
Bio-poem. (click on Bio-poem)
EXTENSION ACTIVITY- Bio-Poem Collage Using Digital Camera
Students will create a bio-collage using the digital camera. Using
the bio-poem
as the focus of the collage, students will take pictures that
represent their likes,
dislikes, family, hobbies, goals, achievements, etc. These pictures
may be gathered
from personal home pictures, magazines, and the Internet. Students
will mount the
bio-poem on a large piece of poster board and will
surround it with their collection of pictures. Students will
present projects to the class.
EXTENSION ACTIVITY- Bio-Cube
Summarizing information is an important postreading and prewriting
activity that helps students synthesize what they have learned. This
tool allows students to develop an outline of a person whose
biography or autobiography they have just read; it can also be used
before students write their own autobiography. Specific prompts ask
students to describe a person’s significance, background, and
personality. The finished printout can be folded into a fun cube
shape that can be used for future reference.
