No Life Without Adjectives
- by
Janet Doucet,
rjlks5@bellsouth.net
There is a need to provide a strong foundation in language expression and writing skills. Adjectives play a big part in this. Teaching students to use adjectives enhance their ability to describe and make story events more vivid for the reader. Teaching adjectives is a requirement of Louisiana content standards and benchmarks in Language Arts. The Louisiana Educational Assessment Program, (LEAP), in the fourth grade requires students to express themselves in written form. Being able to use adjectives will be beneficial to the students.
In this lesson students will be encouraged to locate, list, and illustrate adjectives using Sketchy and Memo on their handheld.
Goal Statement: The students will develop an understanding of adjectives.

Since I will be introducing the Handheld Computers during Parent Night, I would like to start off the year expanding my All About Me lesson into an All About My Family lesson. I would like for my students to each get a chance to take home the Palm and do a Family Project. This will give the students and parents an opportunity to become more familiar with the Palms and it will allow me to get to know the families a little better:)
