Overview
The learner will incorporate skills using hand held computers (Palms) to become familiar with insects

Software
Palm
Palm Camera

Technology
PC Computer with printer

Objectives
The learner will:

1. take at least 5 pictures of various insects
2. print each picture
3. identify the insects
4. print the name of each insect

Procedures
1. Using the Palm students will take pictures of 5 different insects.
2. Students will return to school and pictures will be printed.
3. Group students with no more than 4 students per group.
4. Students in each group will identify each picture by using encyclopedia, Internet, etc. One excellent Internet source is http://www.insects.org
5. After all pictures have been identified, students will use the Palm to print the name of each insect.
6. Students will use these to match the insects with the names.


Students will be assessed by:

1. quality of pictures
2. proper identification of names
3. teacher observation of correct use of Palm
4. ability to match insect name and picture
