Overview
Using notepad on the handhelds, students draw a hanging flag. The video instructs using paper and pencil, but this lesson is adapted to use the handheld. Students are encouraged to draw what is seen. Angles are drawn in relationship to vertical fold lines. Students are asked to forget that they are drawing a flag and to concentrate on drawing lines and angles just as they see them.

Software
Notepad

Technology
Projector, Internet to connect to Unitedstreaming, Computer

Objectives
To draw using the handheld

To draw what is seen rather than what is known

To observe lines and angles in art

Procedures
Students enter their name and art on a new Notepad project. Students view a Unitedstreaming video named Art Start Drawing. Before drawing begins, students view the entire video. The video has information on right brain and left brain functions. It introduces the use of straight and curved lines as used in art. After viewing the video, go to the lesson on how to draw a flag. Instructions are given on the video to follow. Instead of paper and pencil, students follow instructions and draw using Notepad on the handheld. Use the pause button on the video as needed. As students complete the drawing, they beam the finished product to the teacher.
