.In Inspiration, list 6 different genres -
Mystery, Humor, Adventure, Fantasy, Science Fiction, Romance
.Beam chart to students’ handhelds.
.Divide into 6 genre groups. Discuss and plot the characteristics of your assigned genre. Beam to projector and discuss your findings with the class.
.Use the card catalog or browse the shelves to find 1-2 good examples of books in your genre. Take notes in Notepad. Write your selected titles and call numbers on your palm (Inspiration). Beam to the overhead.
.Beam completed list to students. This is a good starting point of selections to read this year.
.What do you like to read? Vote for your favorite genre. In Excel, list 6 genres across the top of the screen. Make a graph by filling in cells with colors below the choices. Sync one to print for a bulletin board display, “Our class prefers the following reads:”
.In Sketchy, you be the author. Make up a title and illustrate the cover of a book in your genre group. Beam and collaborate with your group members. Share your group’s book cover with the class by syncing to the printer. These will also be used for a bulletin board display.
