Overview
This lesson will give students a better understanding of Mardi Gras and other customs of Louisiana.

Objectives
1. Students recognize Mardi Gras as a custom of Louisiana.
2. Students will write a Mardi Gras story on their handheld with Note Pad.
3. Students will complete a mapping using Inspiration on La. customs. ex. Mardi Gras, Fais-do-do, boucherie, King Cake.
4. Students will take pictures at Cajun Day using their digital camera from the handheld.

Procedures
1. Introduce the unit with a PowerPoint on Louisiana and its customs.
2. Show the PowerPoint on last years Cajun Day to increase interest in Louisiana.
3. Allow students to use bookmarked Internet sites to research their favorite Louisian Custom.
4. Students will be placed in groups of 4 or 5 and each group will choose a custom. The group will use notepad and record their notes.
5. Students will then use Inspiration and write about their custom and then beam theirs to the next group.
6. Finish the Louisiana Unit with a Cajun Day with all the 2nd grade classes. My class will take digital pictures with the handheld to later be put into our PowerPoint for that year's Cajun Day.
