Overview
Using the IIM method of research, students will complete step 1,2, & 3 of the method by using a web site and word chart to record notefacts.
Software
FlingIt, Word to Go, & Inspiration
Technology
IIM worksheets and format along with bibliography samples.
Objectives
TLW brainstorm ideas and questions about an explorer using Inspiration. TLW utilize web sites to investigate the life and contribution of an explorer. TLW record notefacts on Word charts and Beam information generated to other students for study purposes.
Procedures
1. Using the IIM seven step research method, students will be allowed to brainstorm their knowledge and questions about explorers.(Inspiration) 2. Teacher will use Vasco Da Gama as an example of the steps that will be taken during the students' initial research. 3. All students will be given a web site on Vasco using Flingit. Students are to use this site to answer questions found on a Word Document which will be beamed to their handhelds. (Notefacts) Short Notes and True Facts. 4. Students will be allowed time to record information from this site and then to pass it on to their classmates for study. 5. The organization of the notefacts on the chart will complete steps 3 and 4 of the research method. STudents will then use this information to complete the remaining 3 steps of the research method where they will (Step 5)check to see if they have met their goals which were set in step 2, then (Step 6)to be tested or interviewed about their newly learned knowledge and (Step 6 and 7 )to decide on and present a product. 6. Each student will then be assigned an explorer to research on their on. The teacher or librarian will fling students appropriate websites for their respective explorers.
