It Pays to Read Tech Connect!
Angie Thibodeaux from E.K. Key Elementary won a Macintosh Performa 6400/180 computer by reading the Tech Connect.  All she had to do was follow a link which took her to an online form where she submitted a educational website with description.  Her name was randomly drawn.  Be sure to keep your eyes open for what we give away next year!!!  Congratulations again, Angie!!

All classes will be taught by the skilled Tech Department Staff and best of all ...they are completely free!. All registration will be conducted online. Join us this summer to upgrade your tech skills and learn something new!  You must be a CPSB employee with a valid CPSB email account to participate.
Summer Reminder Regarding Your Email Account
Please remember to write down and store your email and log on password in a safe place for the summer. We always have many requests upon return to school to reset passwords because they have been forgotten. Due to the large demand to create accounts for new employees at the same time, your ability to check your email may be hindered.

Any email account that accumulates a large volume of email over the summer will be emptied.  If you are not going to check email over the summer, you should remove your name from listservs, etc.

Remember, your CPSB email account can be used throughout the summer from any Internet connected computer!  To use your CPSB email account, go to www.cpsb.org and click on "Employee Email".

IMPORTANT!!!!!  Viewing email this way will NOT remove your mail from the server!!!  Your mail box will continue to fill up.  To remove items from your mail box, select the item(s) you want to delete and click the "DELETE" icon then click the "Empty Deleted Item Folder" icon.  These icons are located near the top of the screen.

Don't Pass Along Hoax Virus Warnings
Have you received an email message warning you of a computer virus called JDBGMGR.EXE? The contents of the hoax message vary, but it advises Hotmail users of an email virus, JDBGMGR.EXE, that is spreading via MSN Messenger. It offers instructions on how to clean it from your system and suggests forwarding it on to contacts located in your address book. THIS MESSAGE IS A HOAX, AND TREND MICRO ADVISES USERS NOT TO FORWARD IT. JDBGMGR.EXE is the Microsoft Debugger Registrar for Java. It uses an icon of a bear. For additional information about JDBGMGR.EXE and other hoaxes, please visit Trend Micro at: http://www.antivirus.com/vinfo/hoaxes/hoax.asp

ALWAYS CHECK WITH THE CPSB HELP DESK AT tech.help@cpsb.org BEFORE TAKING ANY ACTION ON OR FORWARDING ANY “VIRUS ALERTS.” MOST ALL OF THESE ARE HOAXES AND MAY CAUSE YOU TO DAMAGE YOUR COMPUTER BY FOLLOWING THE DIRECTIONS CONTAINED ANY MESSAGES. A GOOD THING TO REMEMBER IS THAT ANYTIME YOU GET A MESSAGE THAT ASKS YOU TO SEND IT TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW, STOP THEN AND THERE BECAUSE THE MESSAGE PROBABLY HAS FAKE INFORMATION.

Working with Internet Explorer 6 "Favorites"
You can use some keystrokes to help you organize your Favorites folder in Microsoft Internet Explorer 6. To see how this works, choose Favorites|Organize Favorites. Move to a folder of interest and click one of the URLs. Hold down the Alt key and press the Up arrow. This will move the selected URL up to a new location. To move a URL down in the list, hold Alt and press the Down arrow.
Selecting Text in Tricky Situations
In certain situations, such as when you're working with a tightly packed table, selecting passages of text with precision with the mouse can be difficult. There's a handy trick to help you through these trying times. Place the insertion point where you want the selection to start, press F8, and click the insertion point where you want the selection to end. All text in between these two points will be selected, and you needn't worry about the clumsiness of the mouse.
Article Summary: (part 5 of 5)
The Right to Lead: A Study in Character and Courage by John C. Maxwell ISBN# 0-8499-5768-0  When do leaders need determination? Although the list may be short in length, the list is most powerful. Leaders need determination when they:
  • seek the truth
  • desire to change
  • express their convictions
  • want to overcome obstacles
  • wish to learn and grow
  • seek to take the high road
  • lead !!!

Leaders are pioneers who venture into unexplored territory. People who take the lead are “foot soldiers in the campaigns for change.” Their goal is to move the troop forward, and to get us through the battleground of life. Are you the troop leader in your school? Do you have the qualities to lead others toward school and/or personal improvement?
