  • Congratulations Emma V. - T.S. Cooley Elementary Magnet School Student of the Year

    The 2017-2018 T.S. Cooley Student of the Year is Emma V. She is a 5th grade student in Mrs. Thibodeaux’s class and the daughter of John and Kaci Vinson. Emma was selected from among 11 classmates who also met the SOY criteria. She will go on to compete at the parish level.

  • 5th Beta Club Competes at District Convention and Makes T.S. Cooley Proud

    The T.S. Cooley Beta Club recently participated at the district convention in Sulphur, LA. They won 1st place in Quiz Bowl (Jeremiah H., Bailey D., Jonah A. and Shreya T.), Spot Light Your Club (Jenna K., Emma V. and Lydia L.), T-Shirt Design (Breonna G. and Brayden G.) and Special Talent (Landon B. and Skyler C.). They won second place in Advertising Design (Louisa R., Ashley J., and Avery W.), Living Literature (Addison K., Brannan D., Hannah T., and Brayden G.), and Speech (Kate M.). They won 3rd place for the Beta Banner (Aubree B.) and Robotics (Alex F., Matthew F., Malakai T. and Andrew W.), and 5th place in Book Battle (Annalise F., Jude G. and Parker M.). Congratulations Beta members!

  • T.S. Cooley Thanksgiving Food Drive

    The 4-H sponsored food drive was a great opportunity for Cooley to share and care. Students filled 3 large Salvation Army barrels full of canned goods and other non-perishable items to share with those in need. The Beta Club will continue collecting items thru December 6th. Items collected in the Christmas Food Drive will go to make holiday baskets for those in need in our communities.

  • Design Ad Winners Chosen for the Louisiana Young Readers Choice Award Project

    T.S. Cooley Elementary 5th grade students recently studied and designed ads for the Louisiana Young Readers’ Choice Award Project. The winners in Mrs. Kristen Orndoff’s class were: 1st Place - Sophia M. and Bailey C., 2nd place - John F., and 3rd place - Brynn S. and Jocelyn N. The winners in Mrs. Katie Thibodeaux’s class were: 1st Place and Overall Winner - Addison K. and Jenna K., 2nd Place - Rian K. and Ashley J., and 3rd Place - Emma V., Adeline S., and Kate M.

  • 3rd - 5th Grade Chess Team Placed 2nd in Houston Chess Tournament

    Congratulations to the T.S. Cooley Chess Team. They recently placed 2nd in the 3rd-5th grade category at the Houston, TX tournament. The 3rd – 5th grade team members are: Ethan W., Malakai T., Mahad J., Jai P., Chris M. and Jake S.

  • Martin Luther King Essay Contest

    Elementary, Middle, and High School students are invited to write and submit a 300-word essay on the following theme chosen by the MLK Coalition: The Theme is: “The Ultimate Measure Of A Man Is Not Where He Stands In Moments Of Comfort And Convenience, But Where He Stands At Times Of Challenge And Controversy.” Winners in each of the three divisions (High School, Middle School, and Elementary School divisions) will be awarded $250 for 1st place; $125 for Second place; and $75 for a 3rd place prize. Each winner will read their winning essays during the televised broadcast January 12, 2018 at the Annual Memorial Breakfast at the Glad Tidings Church 3400 Texas Street in Lake Charles. Students will receive awards during the televised broadcast of the 34th Annual MLK Memorial Breakfast and Awards Program. Students will also represent his/her respective school in the 2018 MLK Parade, Monday January 15, 2018. All MLK Essay entries must be received no later than January 5, 2018 to be considered.   • "Wild West" Scholastic Book Fair Wrap Up

    A big "Yee Haw and Thank You" to all of our families for supporting our "Wild West" Scholastic Book Fair last week! Our total sales was $15,211.10 and we collected $400.00 through the "Picture with a Cowpoke" fundraiser to send books to our adopted school in Houston! With our grand total being $ 15,611.10, we will be able to use the $3,900.00 profit to purchase new books for the library and fund other fun library programs such as AR Pep Rally and AR Bingo! We greatly appreciate all the volunteers who made the book fair run smoothly especially Mrs. Haggart and Mrs. Augustine, our book fair co-chairpersons, who devoted many hours and a multitude of creative ideas to make our fair successful financially and socially!     T.S. Cooley Elementary students recently participated in the VFW Auxiliary Post 2130 Americanism Contest. In the American Flag Coloring Contest, the winners were: 1st place Ethan P., 2nd place Aileen R., and 3rd place Cassidy F.. In the Drawing of the American Flag Contest, the 1st place winner was Mason P. In the Essay Contest, the winners were: 1st place Addison K., 2nd place Brannan D., and 3rd place Sophia M.
