RE: Placement Testing and Transfer Students for 2019-20
Students in grade 9 transferring to the public school from any nonpublic or home school program are required to take the LEAP Placement Test in English language arts and mathematics for grade placement.
Louisiana state policy and the local Pupil Progression Plan require that these transfer students must take the English language arts and the mathematics portion of the LEAP Placement Test and their scores used to inform placement and academic supports.
- Local Education Agencies may make placement decisions based on a preponderance of evidence of student learning.
- Students who are academically struggling must be provided an Individual Academic Improvement Plan.
- These 2019-20 school year transfer students will be registered at the 9th grade upon entering the Calcasieu Parish School system pending the results of the LEAP Placement Test.
Attached is the registration form for LEAP Placement Testing. Parents should complete this form and return to the Assessment Department along with any applicable special education documentation. LEAP Placement Testing will be supervised by Dr. Mary Lou Caldarera and results will be sent back to the school counselor as to grade placement.
Initial LEAP Placement Testing for school year 2018-19 will take place April 9—11, 2019.
Complete and return the LEAP Placement Test Registration form.
