Training Opportunity

The CPSB Technology Training Center is offering a second opportunity for teachers in the district to attend Minecraft in Education training. This training will be conducted by certified Microsoft educators who specialize in the implementation of Minecraft in the classroom. Teachers will attend the training on Saturday, November 2nd and on Sunday, November 3rd from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM at the CPSB Technology Training Center at 1732 Kirkman Street, Lake Charles. Teachers who successfully attend and actively participate in both days of the training will receive a $200.00 stipend. Spots are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register in Tech Classes at www.cpsb.org/techclasses. Once registered, you'll receive a contract agreement to be reviewed, signed, and returned ASAP. Registration will not be considered final until the signed contract has been received.

Win Classroom Laptops in the
CPSB Digital Citizenship
Video Contest!

Teachers can win classroom laptops by submitting an entry in the CPSB Digital Citizenship Video Contest! To do so, teachers are to facilitate students in the production of a short public service announcement (PSA) promoting digital citizenship in action by focusing on one of the following topics: Media Balance & Well-Being; Privacy & Security; Digital Footprint & Identity; Relationships & Communication; Cyberbullying; and News & Media Literacy. 2020 Drew Grant Information

This year, the deadline for applying for the Drew Grant is November 14th, 2019 at 4:00 PM. Information and resources regarding the Drew Grant and others can be found on the CPSB Grant Department website.

Digital Citizenship Resources

Google's Be Internet Awesome resources teach kids the fundamentals of digital citizenship and safety so they can explore the online world with confidence. Their Digital Safety Resources are free and include a web-based game called Interland along with a Digital Safety and Citizenship Curriculum Guide for educators.

Popplet for Mind-Mapping

Popplet, a mind-mapping tool to encourage thinking while promoting visual learning, is available on the web as well as a free app from the Apple App Store. For those students with handwriting concerns, providing an electronic method to express their thoughts could really make a big difference in their responses. Students can add images and/or type text into the popples. Learn more at popplet.com.
