 Windows 10 Updates:
Use Software Center

If a computer or laptop gets a notification to update Windows 10, rather than clicking on a link to update online, CPSB devices should be updated through the Software Center. To update Windows 10, follow these steps:
1. In the bottom left of the taskbar, click on the Windows Search icon or inside the Windows Search box and type Software Center.
2. Click on Software Center to open.
3. Click on Updates.
4. If a Windows 10 update is available, it will be listed. Click on it.
5. Then, click Install.
Note that some Windows 10 updates require the computer to be restarted. Be sure to complete the restart so that the update can fully install. If you have any questions, contact CPSB Tech Help at 217-HELP (4357).

Speech Texter

SpeechTexter is a free speech-to-text web application that can assist your students with transcribing any type of document by using their voice. This voice-to-text resource is valuable for students who have difficulty typing due to any type of disability, English language learners, dyslexic students, or any student who may have difficulty putting their thoughts into words. Since this website is multilingual, it can also be used as a tool for learning the proper pronunciation of words in the foreign language, as well as help students develop fluency with speaking skills. SpeechTexter is supported by Chrome browser.

Digital Citizenship Tip:
Take Advantage of those
Teachable Moments

Many opportunities to discuss topics like privacy, cyberbullying, fair use and copyright, and cybersafety occur naturally during school days. This digital citizenship activity was shared by Jeanne Lejeune of Sulphur High School. She encourages students to post responses to topics and uses it as an opportunity to instill good digital habits. If you have a good digital citizenship tip or lesson that you'd like to share, please contact Meredith Boullion at meredith.boullion@cpsb.org
