Summer 2023


  • The 2023 summer at CPSB will have some exciting opportunities for students. We will be offering traditional summer school, as well as a few various camps. You can find links to those below. When you click a link below, please use your child's login information to access camp registration. 

     

    Elementary

    Kindergarten Essentials Camp - Kindergarten Essentials Camp is designed for children 4 or 5 years old who have not attended a pre-k program. This camp will focus on classroom procedures to help ease the transition from home to school. Campers will get a glimpse of kindergarten while developing a love for literature. Campers will explore, experiment, and create while learning basic classroom procedures and social skills. The drop off time will be 8 a.m. with pick- up at 12 p.m. A sack lunch must be sent daily.     Geaux Global 2.0 -  Join us as we travel around the world learning about culture from all around the globe. We will virtually visit a new location each day learning about life in that area. We will dive into the music, food, language, and cultural traditions of each location. This camp will be open for those entering 3rd-5th grade. (June 5-9 at Vincent Settlement Elementary)  

    Rainbow Reading - Rainbow Reading Camp will serve incoming 2nd graders. Each camp day's focus will be on a color of the day. (May 30, 31, June 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 at Nelson Elementary)

    Fun Cultural Crafts - There is time for create some projects (crafts) using different kind of materials. (May 30-31 June 1,6,7,8, 13,14,15 at Fairview Elementary) 

    Coding for Beginners - This is for students entering Grades 1-3 for Fall 2023. This is a coding camp designed for students to learn programming skills in a fun and engaging environment. Students will learn the basics of coding and have the opportunity to practice coding skills using technology and gadgets. (May 30 - June 14 at DeQuincy Primary)

    Draw with Disney - This is for students entering Grades K-3 for Fall 2023. This summer camp brings the magic of Disney to your child's paper! Campers will learn how to draw Disney characters and use a variety of art materials to bring their drawings to life. (May 30 - June 14 at DeQuincy Primary)  

    Smartie Camp - Did you just graduate from 3rd grade? Did you wish we had more time to be inventive or creative this year? Then this camp is for you! Come join us as we dive into different STEM activities. Let's Engage in interesting topics, Explore different concepts, Explain your thinking creatively, and Evaluate your findings as you test your theories. We can't wait to see you this summer! (June 5-9 at Western Heights)  

    Summer Olympics - STEM in Sports - Just like the real Olympics, we plan to WIN BIG this summer with our STEM in Sports Camp at Cypress Cove. Come enjoy 3 days packed with fun STEM activities, STEM-it-to-win-it games, and sport themed competitions. We will dive deep into the history and learn the games of soccer, softball and baseball and basketball. This camp is open to students ages 6-11 years old. (June 12-14 at Cypress Cove)  

    J.I. Watson STEM Camp - Come have some fun and learn hands-on science and math inspired activities. Students entering 3rd grade-5th grade are welcome. (June 6-13 at J.I. Watson)

    Juegos y cantos tradicionales de Mexico / Traditional Games and songs from Mexico - Fun Hispanic Crafts - Camp for students from K-2 Graders, full of activities indoor and outdoor, come and learn how to play traditional outdoor games like, avion , alto, el lobo, la vibora de la mar, you also will create your own maracas and pinata!, getting immerse in the Spanish language! You do not need to know Spanish to join this amazing summer camp! (May 30 - June 2 at Fairview)

     

    Elementary & Middle

    Wild Over Wildlife Art Camp - Students who have completed grade 2 up to grade 8 may attend this fun and creative camp. The camp will include a variety of 2 hour projects with wildlife as the subject matter. Magazine mosaics, pencil sketches and color pencil sketches are a few of the planned activities. (May 30, June 1, June 6, June 8 at Vinton Elementary)  

     

    Middle & High

    Guitar Camp - Learn to play the guitar in a relaxed, friendly environment. See how much fun it is to make music with others! Instruments provided, no prior musical experience necessary. Open to students grades 6-12. (June 5-9 at LaGrange High)  

    TELC Summer Camp - Introducing the 1st ever summer camp for TELC students! This camp is for incoming 6th – outgoing 8th TELC students. There will be several classes taught by TELC teachers. Students will create a food truck business. They will explore the budget, the menu and design of their business. By the end of the class, they will have a physical model of their food truck and taste some samples of the menus they chose. Students will learn the principles behind advertisement design and create their own ad design following those principles using Adobe Fresco. Students will engage in virtual reality and STEM activities related to different historical sites and monuments. Students will learn about a country/site's history. They will then tour the area and build a small 3D replica. Exploring the microscopic world ranging from fingerprints, bacteria, diseases, plant cells and more! Students will also solve a mystery and propagate some plants.Students explore various craft mediums and create fun projects. Join the F. K. White Wolverine Robotics Program for some summer fun! Campers interested in 2023-2024 competitive team will have the opportunity to build and program a Vex Robot, while developing teamwork and problem-solving skills. Students will work with various programs to create mind-blowing presentations. They will also look at some coding. (June 12-15 at F.K. White)

    Lewis STEM Camp - Topics: Medical Detectives, Design and Modeling, Energy and the Environment, Science of Technology (June 5-9 at W.W. Lewis)

    Calcasieu Theatrical Arts Camp - Calcasieu Theatrical Arts Theater Camp is for the aspiring young performers of Calcasieu Parish who have completed 8th grade to those entering 12th grade. We will offer a 1-week camp that includes sessions in acting, dance, voice, team building and specialty classes. (June 5-9 at LaGrange High)
