Welcome Back!

The Technology Department is very excited to see students and staff getting back at their campuses. Our department is here to help you and your staff get back on your feet with technology in your schools  with the hope of returning to normalcy in the near future. The Tech Connect newsletter will continue to be delivered to your email inbox every Thursday. This online newsletter is a collaborative effort of all the staff in the Technology Department. We will be focusing on just-in-time learning and technology tips you need to know now for the next couple of months. At this time, our focus is to work with staff and teachers in the schools. We plan to have a training schedule for the spring at the beginning of the new year. Teachers can still turn in tech points for equipment at this time.

We understand that starting school is a busy time for you and the Tech Support team is working very hard to support all users in the district as quickly as possible to resolve submitted issues. To assure faster service, please include a detailed description when submitting a ticket.

I am so proud of our Tech Department staff and their commitment to providing employees with resources, training, and support. Have a great school year!

The CPSB Technology Department has new tech resources for parents, students, and for teachers. Topics for students and parents include how to log into Blackboard, how to check CPSB email, how to take a screenshot, and much more. For the Parent/Student Tech Help Resources, start at the CPSB homepage. From there, click on the Parents/Students tab to select Parent/Student Tech Help. Here, click to expand the Parent/Student Tech Help Resources menu item found on the left side of the page. Resource handouts and videos are available for using Odysseyware, Blackboard Parent/Student Help, Office 365 Parent/Student Help, and General Parent/Student Help.

Teacher Tech Help Resources provides videos and step-by-step handouts with pictures for a wide variety of topics including how to enroll students in your Blackboard course site, how to access Software Center for the latest software and updates, and how to use PowerPoint desktop to create a screencast video. These resources can be accessed through the Tech Classes page where CPSB users will need to first sign in with their CPSB username and password. Once signed in, click to expand Help Videos & Handouts found in the left-side menu to access help for Blackboard, Odysseyware, Office 365, and more.

CPSB Tech Help Page

If you need technology support or assistance, the Tech Help page includes links to general information, guides documents, purchasing quotes, hardware status, and site tech contact lists. Some resources linked on this page can only be accessed while on the CPSB network due to proprietary information available only for employees. On this page, you can also find links for solutions for frequently asked questions about resetting passwords, moving to OneDrive, and Windows 10.

When submitting a Footprints Tech Help ticket, it's important that you submit in the appropriate workspace (Apple, Blackboard, Promethean, Schoolwires, Tech Points, Other Tech Help) to receive support as quickly as possible. In the description, include any troubleshooting steps that have already been taken.

If you have questions or need additional help, feel free to contact the Tech Help Desk at 217-4357 (HELP).

How User-Friendly is Your
Blackboard Site?

Every once in awhile, it's a good idea to view your Blackboard site as a guest to see how user-friendly it is This way, you can check to be sure information is easily accessible by parents and guests. Sites should have updated announcements and teacher contact information that's easily found. It's also a good idea to check to be sure that the course menu is organized and the color combinations make it easy to read. Also, consider how many clicks it takes to get to the content that's been shared. This Teacher Blackboard Help video, How to View Your Blackboard Site as a Guest, demonstrates how.
