10 Shortcuts to Stuff Your Stocking

1: Use Windows key + Shift + S for Snip & Sketch screenshot.

2: Use Ctrl + Shift + G in the Edge browser to read a website aloud.

3: Undo the last action with Ctrl + Z. 

4: Create a new document in Word with Ctrl + N.  

5: Switch between open apps on the desktop with Windows key + D.  

6: Lock the screen with Windows key + L.  

7: For an emoji keyboard, use Windows key + . (period key).

8: Zoom in with Ctrl + + (plus key).  

9: Zoom out with Windows + - (short dash key).

Pear Deck Pop-Up Activities  

Pear Deck can be used with no prep to deliver interactive prompts to students who use their own devices. To do so, go to Pear Deck, sign in with your CPSB account, click on the Choose a Prompt located in the Pop-Up Activities section. Select a slide with the interactivity features you'd like your students to access. There are ready-made slides for text input, draggable content, multiple choice responses, drawing, and number input. Click on one and instructions pop-up for students to follow to join the interactive session by inputting the code at joinpd.com. With an Act 837 addendum in place, students can sign in with their CPSB credentials for accountability and teachers can access all responses from the Sessions tab when they return to their Pear Deck home page once the session is over. For handouts and video tutorials for using Pear Deck, sign into Tech Classes, click to expand Help Videos & Handouts and select Office 365. Congratulations to the second iPad winner, Janet Ritchie from W.W. Lewis Middle School! The Technology Department has one more iPad to give away to a CPSB teacher as a thank- you for reading Tech Connect each week. Previous issues are archived and can be found here. To enter in the drawing for the final iPad, teachers can complete this form by Monday, December 21st at noon to be eligible and included in a random drawing. The winning teacher will be contacted by email and announced in the Thursday, January 7th issue of Tech Connect.
