What's New in Minecraft Edu?

The Minecraft Edu Computer Science resource page regularly adds new and engaging lessons for students to embark on various tasks while learning different content area skills. Here, educators can browse a cross-curricular collection with over 150 hours of Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) and International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE)-aligned lessons. Educators can search by beginner, intermediate, or advanced topics. Some of the categories offered in this section include block-based coding, Hour of Code activities, Python, JavaScript, and artificial intelligence. Each section offers a series of task for students to complete while learning how to code at differentiated levels. Teacher guides and online training videos are also available.

Access for All in Any Learning Environment with PowerPoint Live

With PowerPoint for the web's Live Presentations feature, your students/audience can view your presentation on their own devices while reading a live transcript in preferred languages. To use, open the presentation in PowerPoint for the web on a device with a microphone after signing in with your CPSB Office 365 credentials. Click the Slide Show tab and click the Present Live drop-down to choose the audience. When ready, click Present Live.

Once the presentation starts, PowerPoint generates a QR code and a shortened link for participants to use to join the session on their device. To enable the live subtitles once the presentation begins, hover over the bottom-left corner for the presenter tool bar as seen above. Here, the microphone can be turned on/off and subtitles can be enabled/disabled. The Present Live icon can be clicked to begin a session from here as well as in the toolbar.

Those who join the session have the ability to provide live emoji feedback while a transcript is shared in real time in the selected language. After the session, the presenter receives a report which includes feedback from the session along with an evaluation summary. Learn more at Microsoft's Present Live page.
