  CPSB Virtual Tech Showcase 2021

This year's CPSB Tech Showcase featuring Brentwood Elementary, St. John Elementary, and Washington-Marion High is an all-virtual experience. Showcase teachers, selected by school administrators, have been provided with technology, training, and support from the CPSB Technology Department. Each teacher will be showcased virtually.to share and demonstrate the ways in which technology has been integrated in their classrooms. This virtual experience for participants is comprised of two parts.

1. Visit the Tech Showcase Teacher sites, available beginning on May 11, 2021, at 8:00 AM. The teacher sites will include ideas, videos, and examples of technology to support teaching and learning. After visiting the sites and considering how the ideas could be applied in your own classroom, teachers can submit the Tech Showcase Scavenger Hunt form which opens on May 11th at 8:00 AM and closes on May 13th at 8:00PM.

2. Register to attend the entirety of a LIVE Teams Meeting featuring the showcase teachers on Thursday, May 13th at 3:30PM-4:30PM when they'll be available for questions. One Tech Point will be awarded for attending.

All CPSB teachers who complete the Tech Showcase Scavenger Hunt AND attend the LIVE Meeting will be included in a drawing for an iPad! While only CPSB classroom teachers are eligible for the prize, everyone is invited to visit the Showcase Teacher sites once they open. Don't wait to register for the Tech Showcase LIVE Teams Meeting - space is limited. Visit www.cpsb.org/techclasses to register today!

Embedding Video in OneNote

Have you created screencasts and video lessons that could be shared with students in a OneNote notebook? Currently, pasting a link to a YouTube or Vimeo video will cause the video to embed directly on the OneNote page. But if the video file is stored on a device or has been uploaded into OneDrive, this may not be an option. Two possible solutions exist using the Office 365 apps PowerPoint and Sway.

To use PowerPoint, start by opening the desktop PowerPoint app. Create a new presentation and click on a slide. Click the Insert tab to select Video This Device to locate and load the video file onto the slide. Save the presentation. Next, open the OneNote desktop app and click the Insert tab. Click onto the page and then click File. Locate and choose the recently saved PowerPoint file and select Upload to OneDrive and Insert Link. Once loaded, the link will be added to the OneNote page and the embedded PowerPoint will present the video on the page.

To use Sway, sign into Office 365 online and launch the Sway app. Click the + Create New button and add the title of the video on the title card. Next, click the green +to select Media, then Video. The video file can be dragged and dropped directly onto the slide, or it can be uploaded by clicking on the My Device button to locate the file. Depending on the size of the video, it may take a while to load. Once loaded, click on the Share button, and adjust the settings as needed, then copy the link for others to view. Once copied, paste this link onto the OneNote page, and the Sway with the video will embed directly onto the page.
