Dr. Mary Hidalgo
-
Mary Hidalgo, Ph.D. is dedicated to supporting students and their extended families. Her experience as a teacher and researcher as well as her experience as a mother to Gifted and Talented (G/T) children has enabled her to better understand social and emotional needs of both the G/T and their parents. Her research and writing provides a platform for parents and grandparents to share personal narratives. Dr. Hidalgo supports accelerated learning experiences and Advanced Placement opportunities for students, enabling them to align with rigor and earn college credit while in high school. Dr. Hidalgo is also passionate about advocating for rural communities where resources and support may be limited. Born and raised in Southwest Louisiana, Dr. Hidalgo received both a Bachelors and Master’s Degree as well as gifted certification at McNeese State University. She later received an Educational Specialist Degree and a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from Louisiana State University. In her leadership roles, she is focused on building a vast community of support for families of G/T children and youth as well as in sharing resources and providing opportunities for educational professionals and others hoping to support the G/T learner, their families, and their communities.
- Enjoying the sunshine while spending time in nature, gardening and caring for her lawn, going on road trips and seeing new things, and spending time with family and friends are all things Dr. Hidalgo enjoys during in her free time.
