• On July 19, 2001, Oak Park Middle, McNeese State University, and the Calcasieu Parish School System, began a professional partnership to improve teaching, learning, and instruction in our classrooms by providing the most up to date quality instruction for our students and second to provide a training ground for pre-service teachers entering into the teaching profession.  This partnership has helped Oak Park Middle continue to increase student achievement levels and build Oak Park into the showcase school for Southwest Louisiana.  In conjunction with CPSS, Oak Park Middle is now one of the parish's main locations for Professional Development activities. Together, we have created The Teaching Lab, which includes two model classrooms and a large meeting room for Professional Development meetings.
Course offerings at Oak Park are planned to give our students the greatest advantage for academic growth by providing opportunities in the areas of the arts.  Academic course offerings at various grade levels include Mathematics, Math Applications, Pre-Algebra, Algebra; Language Arts and Language Application; World United States, and Louisiana History;  and Physical, Life, and Earth Science. We also have our NEST program, which is a technology based program for advanced learners.  Non-Academic courses include band, string orchestra, chorus, piano keyboarding, guitar, speech/drama, jazz dance, ballet, French, Spanish, art, Journeys to Careers, computer science, and physical education.
Beyond the classroom experience, Oak Park offers various organizations in which students may be invited to join including WEB, Student Council, Beta Club, Yearbook, Builders Club, 4-H, Library Club, Art Club, and Cheerleading.
