My name is Melissa Conrad and I am proud to be a teacher at Westlake High School! I am a graduate of Westlake High. I was born and raised in Westlake and received a Bachelor's Degree from McNeese State University. I am a Special Education teacher for grades 9-12.  I began my journey here at Westlake High School as a Special Education teacher in 2018.  When working with my students, I strive to identify the individual needs and skills of each child and create a healthy, inspiring, and supportive learning environment. I cannot wait to kick off a new year!

I have worked with many different types of children, from those who are physically disabled or sensory-impaired to those with speech difficulties, autism, and Down Syndrome. I believe every child is unique and deserves a caring, inspiring, and engaging atmosphere in which to grow emotionally, intellectually, and socially. As an educator, I want to help students meet their full potential in all of these areas.

I have been married for 22 years and have three fantastic children who are 20, 18, and 5 years old. My two older children attend LSU and my 5-year-old attends Westwood Elementary. I also enjoy shopping, going to our fishing camp, listening to music, relaxing at the beach, and spending time with friends and family.

I look forward to working together with parents as partners in their children’s growth and development!!
