Talented Visual Art I #006429 (one full credit) Fall –OR -Spring Semester for two hours daily. This course will introduce students to basic creative thinking skills, the elements of art, art history, and the principles of design. Students will be required to develop analytical skills as they critique their own art and the art of others. Students will be required to select their best work for portfolio inclusion, exhibition, and competition and be able to defend their choices.Talented Visual Art II #006430 (one full credit) Spring Semester for two hours daily. This course will further explore art concepts and techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture, and printmaking. The student will study additional artists and periods of art. Students will evaluate their own studio work and participate in group critiques using higher order thinking skills.Talented Visual Art III (one full credit) Fall Semester for two hours daily.This course will require students to continue their study of art history and the exploration of the elements of art and the principles of design to gain maturing aesthetic judgment. Students will explore more advanced techniques of drawing, painting, sculpture, and printmaking and examine possibilities for unique applications of those techniques. Critical evaluation of the student’s work as well as the work of others will continue.Talented Visual Art IV (one full credit) Spring Semester for two hours daily. This course will require students to show mastery of the elements of art and the principles of design in their advanced personal work. They will be expected to do oral/written evaluations of the work of other artists. This course will allow students the option of working independently in a particular area of art using a contract with the teacher. Students in this course will selectively study artists and periods of art as a basis for developing independent artwork. A senior portfolio will be developed for exhibition and competition for career and college scholarship opportunities in visual art.
