Margaret Hollingsworth | 3rd Grade

Degrees and Certifications:

Margaret Hollingsworth

Ms. Hollingsworth is a third grade teacher at DeQuincy Elementary. She began teaching in 1988 after receiving her Elementary Education degree from McNeese State University.  Her career spans 30+ years, seven campuses in two states, four grades and hundreds of children.  Having taught all subjects, her favorite to teach is reading.  She joined the early move to bring technology into elementary grades in the early 1990's and believes in its ability to enhance and broaden learning experiences.  In her spare time she enjoys playing the piano and organ, singing, genealogy research, and reading.  Recently, she has begun to sponsor a Grief Share group at her church.  As often as possible, she travels to see her grandson, granddaughter, and their parents.

Access to Technology

  • "In our 1:1 laptop classroom, students go to the Canvas app from their ClassLink LaunchPad. From there, they access the Canvas course that includes current lessons, assignments, tutorials, videos, and additional resources. I utilize the Canvas assignments and discussions to provide accessibility for all learners. I create read-aloud videos of our stories using Canvas Studio. Students also access Amplify Reading from LaunchPad. Students use Flip to read their writing pieces and listen to their peers writing in order to provide editing feedback. I also use the Teaching Books app to find interesting information about authors to share with students. The Promethean ActivPanel is used to show PowerPoint presentations that coincide with our lessons."
