Information about our tree
  • Our 7th grade immersion students helped me plant a myrtle in the back of the school on Monday. Our last unit was Earth's changing climate, and we studied the effect of the increase of CO2 on the global temperature on our planet.
According to nationalforest.org "Reforestation helps sustain and increase the carbon sequestration potential, mitigating the effects of global climate change. Forests are also natural air conditioners, providing local cooling effects that help regulate temperatures."
We wanted to humbly contribute our share to help in the fight against climate change.
The students named the tree 2028, the year of their graduation, and we prepared a sign with the common name of the tree in English and Spanish as well as its scientific name.
