Biographical Information: In her own words…

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Louisiana State University, and a Master of Education +30 from McNeese State University. Additional graduate work included study at the University of Hawaii and Northeast State University.

As a product of public education in Lake Charles, it was a natural move to choose southwest Louisiana as a career choice. My classroom experience included a year in Honolulu, Hawaii and nine years in Calcasieu Parish. Additional exciting opportunities included: elementary curriculum consultant, elementary principal and administrative director of elementary schools. Additional work through the LA State Department of Education included serving as a professional development trainer for Louisiana principals, career education curriculum writing teams and various state textbook adoption committees.

The opportunity to serve in related educational endeavors included: Elementary Commission chair, Louisiana Committee chair, president, board of trustees member, and board of directors member of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools; member of the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation; member of the Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement; quality review team chair for School Systems in Louisiana and Latin America; and quality review team member in other states. Honors received include: Elementary Principal of the Year in Calcasieu Parish and Louisiana; and Distinguished Educator of the Year of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

Hobbies and family are synonymous since I cherish time spent with family. My children and grandchildren are actively involved in many activities and I am fortunate to be able to share in many of the activities. Time spent with good friends, reading and working in my yard all balance a full and exciting schedule.
