  • OUR MISSION: TO PROVIDE QUALITY SERVICES AND RESOURCES TO IDENTIFIED STUDENTS THROUGH EDUCATION, ASSESSMENT, AND FACILITATION OF FUNCTIONAL COMMUNICATION SKILLS

  • Role of the School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist:

The focus of the school-based speech-language pathologist is to address the speech, language, and communication disorders that impact a student’s access to the curriculum. The school-based SLP’s goal is to determine the need for evaluation and remediate, improve, or alleviate student communication problems within the educational environment.

    Description of Assistive Technology:

The Calcasieu Parish Assistive Technology Assessment Team (ATAT)’s purpose is to adequately evaluate students in need of assistive technology solutions and to provide services for qualifying students within the Calcasieu Parish school system. ATAT supports students, teachers, staff members, and parents through a lending library of equipment and supplies and by providing technical assistance and training for assistive technology equipment and recommended strategies.
