    Registration at T.S. Cooley was held February 19 - March 2. If you missed the opportunity to register your student entering kindergarten through 5th grade for the 2018-2019 school year, we are accepting AUGUST WAITING LIST SIGN UP. Stop by the front office or CLICK ON READ FULL STORY to print out a August Waiting List Form that you may fill out and mail in to the school. If any openings are not filled from Spring testing, you will be contacted the beginning of August for testing.

  • Louisiana Choral Foundation Summer Youth Choir Camp

  • T.S. Cooley Art on Display at the Imperial Calcasieu Museum

    T.S. Cooley students will have art work on display at the Imperial Calcasieu Museum located at 204 W. Sallier in Lake Charles. The exhibit entitled “Framing America”, is open free to the public on opening night, Thursday, March 15th from 6 -7:30 p.m. After this date, normal museum hours are Tues - Fri 10-5 and Sat 10-3, Adults $5 and Children/Seniors $2.   • T.S. Cooley 4th Grade Math Team Brings Home 2nd Place Trophy From Mighty Mu Math Tournament

    T. S. Cooley 4th and 5th grade math teams competed at Barbe HS recently at the annual Mighty Mu Math Tournament. With 11 schools sending representatives and 341 students registered, this was the largest recorded Mighty Mu Tournament to date. The 4th grade team place 2nd overall. Individually Taylor B. placed 3rd, Brody P. placed 4th, Juan C. placed 5th, there was a 3 way tie between Ethan W., CJ B., and Peyton A., and Ethan S. received Honorable Mention.

  • 5th Grade Math Team Wins 1st Place at Mighty Mu Math Tournament

    The 5th grade team placed 1st overall. Individually Ethan H. placed 1st, Jacob S. placed 2nd, Alex F. placed 3rd, Jonah A. placed 5th, Parker M. placed 6th, Jocelyn N. placed 7th and Jeremiah H. and Shreya T. received Honorable Mentions. Special thanks to the math coaches: Angie Schmitt, Shelly Rion and Darren Alcock.

  • T.S. Cooley Students Vote for Louisiana Young Reader's Choice Award Book

    Twenty-six fourth and fifth graders voted in the library on voting machines to cast their ballot for their favorite Louisiana Young Reader's Choice Award book. The students had a choice of 15 books to choose from after reading them during the fall semester. The tallied votes will be sent to the Louisiana State Library in Baton Rouge and will be added to the thousands of votes cast by students all over the state to determine the award winning 2018 Louisiana Young Reader's Choice Award book and the 2018 Honor Award book. The winning book at T.S. Cooley was The Doublecross: And Other Skills I learned as a Superspy by Jackson Pearce.

  • 5th Grade BETA Club Rocked The Cajundome

    Thirty-six 5th graders attended the State Beta Convention last week and performed exceptionally well. Several of these members are moving on to the National Convention in Georgia this summer. Riley B. won 1st place in Recyclable Art. The Quiz Bowl Team (Jonah A., Jeremiah H., Bailey D. and Shreya T.) won 1st place. T-Shirt Design (Breonna G. and Brayden G.) and Spotlight Your Club (Jenna K., Lydia L. and Emma V.) won 2nd place. Living Literature (Brannan D., Hannah T., Addison K., Jude G. and Ryanne C.), Essay (Annalise F.) and Wreath (Emma V.) all won 3rd place. Advertising Design (Avery W., Louisa R. and Ashley J.) and Special Talent (Landon B., Skylar C. and Alexis N.) won 4th place. In the Social Studies written competition, Parker M. won 5th place. Congratulations to all of these students. Their hard work really paid off.

  • Chess Team Plays Well In Houston Tournament

    Recently Yaqoub K., Jacob C., Chris M., Mahad J., and Dale S. competed at the Village School Chess Tournament in Houston. Congratulations to Mahad, who received a medal for winning 3 of his 5 games at the tournament.

  • Malakai T. Represents T.S. Cooley at Regional Spelling Bee

    Malakai recently travelled to Ponchatoula, LA to compete at the regional spelling bee. He advanced to the second round and represented T.S. Cooley well. It was a great experience and we are proud of all the hard work Malakai put in to prepare for this event.

  • 2017-2018 Book Bandit Challenge

    Our school is participating in the 2017 - 2018 Bandit's Book Challenge sponsored by Louisiana's Governor John Bel Edwards and his wife, First Lady Donna Edwards. This reading challenge was named in honor of their son's dog, a golden retriever, Bandit. Each student is challenged to read at least 10 books on their reading level in the 2018 spring semester from January 15 - April 16. Signed forms need to be returned to Mrs. Lanier by the DEADLINE of Monday, April 16th. CLICK ON READ FULL STORY for a downloadable copy of the reading log, bookmark and letter from the governor. The completed reading logs may be turned in earlier if your child reads all 10 books before the deadline. Each student who completes the reading challenge will receive a certificate from the governor's office. Happy Reading!

  • Calcasieu Parish Public Library Kids Art Club

    Kid’s Art Club is an all inclusive club where kids (1st - 5th) will create fun, interesting and colorful projects! Wednesdays at 4:00 p.m. at the Central Public Library at 301 W. Claude Street in Lake Charles. Remaining dates are February 21, March 21, and April 18. Registration is required.
