Objectives
- To assure every child the opportunity to attend school regularly
- To supervise the maintenance of an accurate census and child accounting system that will provide information for local school systems and agencies, including the State Department of Education
- To verify addresses and monitor school zones in compliance with Board policy
- To work with schools in developing and maintenance procedures for daily identification of children with problems in the areas of absenteeism and other conditions which may have an adverse effect upon the child's adjustment to his educational environment
- To serve as liaison between schools, parents, courts, and community agencies

IN-ZONE PERMITS FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR MAY BE OBTAINED DURING OUR OFFICE HOURS OF 7:30-11:30 & 1:00-3:30.
CWA does not make copies. A separate set of address verification documents and parent/guardian ID will be needed for each student that requires a permit.
CWA summer office hours: Mon-Fri from 7:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m.

District policy requires you to verify your address to register your child (grades K-12) in the appropriate Ward 3 (Lake Charles) attendance zone. To do this, copies of the following documents are required FOR EACH CHILD NEEDING A PERMIT:
~ If the parent/guardian is the account holder for the electricity of the physical address, copies of the following:
- Copy of parent/guardian’s photo ID for each student
- Copy of current electricity statement showing the name and service address for each student
- Copy of another current utility statement showing the name and service address for each student (Examples: gas, water, phone, cable or a lease containing the guardian as the lessee and the signature of the leasor)
- Copy of child's birth certificate
- Copy of any legal documents signed by a judge, if applicable (custody, foster care, legal guardianship, etc.)
~ If the electricity is not in parent/guardian's name or if they are not the homeowner, the following must be provided along with the above copies:
- Original notarized statement stating that the utilities are in someone else's name (See template under “Info for Parents”)
- Copy of electricity account holder/home owner’s photo ID

School Choice Transfers
School Choice Transfers for the 2024-2025 school year.
The Calcasieu Parish School Board will offer School Choice Transfers for those students attending struggling schools in Calcasieu Parish for the upcoming school year. These schools are identified on The Louisiana Department of Education’s report found at the following link: https://www.louisianabelieves.com/resources/library/performance-scores
Those schools eligible for School Choice Transfers for 24-25 include the following:
- College Oaks Elementary
- Henry Heights Elementary
- John J. Johnson Elementary
- Oak Park Middle
- T.H. Watkins Elementary
- Pearl Watson Elementary
- Ralph F. Wilson Elementary
