2024-2025 Stipends for Identified Schools

2024-2025 Returning and Recruitment Stipends for Teachers/Educators in Identified Schools

To be eligible to receive this Stipend,     

Section A

The teacher/educator must be a new hire, in-district transfer employed as a full-time classroom teacher/educator or currently employed as one at one of the following identified schools (See Section B). 

  1. Barbe Elementary School 
  2. Brentwood Elementary School 
  3. College Oaks Elementary School  
  4. Combre-Fondel Elementary School 
  5. Fairview Elementary School 
  6. Henry Heights Elementary School  
  7. J.J. Johnson Elementary School 
  8. Oak Park Elementary School 
  9. Pearl Watson Elementary School 
  10. Ralph Wilson Elementary School 
  11. TH Watkins Elementary School 
  12. Oak Park Middle School 
  13. LaGrange High School 
  14. Washington-Marion Magnet High School 
  15. Molo Middle School

*The identified schools were based on School Performance Scores, CIR (Comprehensive Intervention Required) (Comprehensive Intervention Required status), and “hard to staff” designation based on the percentage of certified teachers at the school.  

*Two of the three above indicators must be met to qualify as an identified school 

Section B 

1. The teacher must be certified to teach or actively seeking final certification (Having met requirements for a Practitioner’s License).  

2. The educator must be certified to teach or must be issued an LDOE (Louisiana Department of Education) Standard Certificate for their position. These positions include but are not limited to: Counselor, Literacy Coach, Master Teacher, TAB, Graduation Coach, librarian, Dean of Discipline/Students, Curriculum Coordinator, Assistant Principal, and Principal. 

Section C

If the teacher/educator was employed by a Louisiana public school system (including CPSB (Calcasieu Parish School Board)) for the 2022-2023 and/or the 2023-24 school year, the teacher must provide evidence of an Effective Proficient or Highly Effective overall Compass evaluation rating to be eligible for the 2023-24 stipend and/or the 2024-25 stipend. If an overall Compass evaluation rating is not available due to unreleased state testing data, Compass observations with an average of Effective Proficient or Highly Effective may be used. 

Section D

The total gross Stipend amount will be $11,000 for those who qualify, paid over two years ($5,500 in 2023-24 and $5,500 in 2024-25). Each $5,500 stipend will be paid, less payroll withholdings, as a lump sum to teachers/educators who qualify as of August 2023 and August 2024. The Stipend will be included with the September 39, 2023, and September 30, 2024, payroll.  

In consideration for the Board's payment of this Stipend, the Teacher/Educator requirements for retention at the identified school are as follows: 

  • If a teacher/educator qualifies for the 2023-24 school year stipend, they will commit to staying at that school for two years.  

  • If a teacher/educator qualifies for the 2023-24 stipend and the 2024-25 stipend, they will commit to staying for an additional year – a total of three years from the initial 2023-24 stipend.  

  • If a new teacher/educator or transfer is recruited to the school for the 2024-25 school year, they will qualify for the 2024-25 stipend only and commit to staying at the school for two years. 

Section E

This Stipend shall be approved for the 2023-24 and 2024-25 school years only and this action is not considered an amendment to the 2022-24 or 2024-25 salary schedule. Teachers agree that their base salary shall be based upon the Calcasieu Parish School Board salary schedule, and this Stipend shall not affect their base teacher salary. 

Section F

In emergency cases and other extraordinary situations that do not fall within these guidelines, the Superintendent has administrative authority to handle these issues on a case-by-case basis.   

The Superintendent may transfer and/or take disciplinary action against the teacher so long as such transfer is not arbitrary or capricious, and/or such disciplinary action is taken in accordance with Louisiana laws on discipline of teachers. 

Section G

A teacher who fails to remain in the qualifying position for the minimum amount of time required, shall reimburse Calcasieu Parish School Board for the pro rata portion of the Stipend which represents the months of such failure.
