Welcome to Mrs. Theriot's 6th Grade ELA Classroom

  • Student Course Resources
This year, students will be working in the ilclassroom platform for our curriculum as well as the Classkick digital platform for our class content. Their course calendar and classroom communications take place within this site where detailed assignment information is shared with students in the calendar or as an announcement. While parents cannot access these platforms, students have accounts which can be accessed via Launchpad, a single-sign on provider. When accessing Launchpad off the CPSB network, students will prompted to sign in with their CPSB username and password before their dashboard opens.

    Course Communications
Parents and legal guardians can receive CPSB BB Comms communications via email and text messages if the student contact information is up-to-date and accurate. Please ensure that a parent/guardian number is listed in the "Student Cell Phone" field in the Student Progress Center. The field appears on the “phone” page as you confirm your student’s information each year. If you’ve already updated the information, you can recheck this field by selecting “Student Registration Update.” You can visit SPC HERE to make any needed changes to your student's information to receive email and text messages.

    Welcome

Congratulations on becoming a middle school student!! We are very excited to welcome you to S.J. Welsh Middle School and home of the Colts. I hope you are as excited as I am about starting the school year. I am thrilled to be your teacher and am looking forward to having an exciting and productive year. As a middle school student, much will be expected of you and I know you are up to the challenge.

We will be utilizing the Learnzillion Guidebook curriculum in ELA this year. We will be starting off the year covering the novel Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. The unit has already been converted to an online platform for students that may be absent. Each student will be provided with a workbook, a novel, and any other necessary handouts. Students will also be given instructions on how to access Learnzillion from home.

If you have not bought your school supplies for ELA yet, please don't. I will be giving you a handout of what I need you to have. If you have already bought supplies, it's fine.

As you know, plans for the upcoming school year are very fluid right now. Please know that I will be giving you the most up-to-date information as it is relayed to me.

If you have any questions, please email me at sandra.theriot@cpsb.org

I am looking forward to navigating the school year with you!!

  • It was wonderful meeting all of the new students yesterday. We spent time learning procedures, building relationships, and learning to be an SJ Welsh Colt.

The students were given a packet with important information to review. Please look through the information, complete the necessary forms and return them on Monday.

It is extremely important the AUP form is signed by you and your student then returned. This form allows the student to use a computer. My class will do most of their work on a computer so the sooner the form is returned, the sooner we can begin using the computers.

If you have any questions, please email me at sandra.theriot@cpsb.org

    Have a wonderful weekend.
