  • Rice Cook Off Winner

September is National Rice Month and in celebration, the Cal-Cam Rice Growers sponsored the 22nd Annual Rice Cook Off in Lake Charles. Danon Jackson represented the MBMS FACS & Hospitality Team quite well by winning first place overall in the competition. She competed against both middle and high school students from Home Ec departments within Calcasieu and Cameron Parish. The rice dish she prepared was Seafood Risotto in an Instant Pot. It is a delicious creamy rice dish full of shrimp and crabmeat. Her first-place prize was a check for $100.00. Congratulations, Danon!
