Calcasieu Parish School Board celebrates 2025–2026 Students of the Year

The Calcasieu Parish School Board is proud to announce the 2025–2026 Students of the Year, three remarkable students whose leadership, character, and dedication to excellence represent the very best of their schools and community. This year’s winners are Catherine Harrison from Western Heights Elementary, Caroline Harrison from S.P. Arnett Middle, and Kathryn Armentor from Iowa High.

“These students embody what is possible when hard work, compassion, and determination come together,” said Superintendent Dr. Jason VanMetre. “Their achievements in academics, leadership, and service reflect not only personal excellence, but also the support of families, teachers, and school communities who help them thrive. Our students are why we do what we do, and we are incredibly proud to celebrate these outstanding young leaders.”

Catherine Harrison – Western Heights Elementary School
Elementary Student of the Year

Catherine Harrison shines as a scholar, leader, and role model at Western Heights Elementary. Admired for her curiosity, creativity, and thoughtful perspective, she serves as Head of House for Team Giver and participates in the CPSB Gifted Program. Catherine also contributes her time as a Junior Committee Member for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and is active in BETA Club, Kids for Christ, club volleyball, and golf. Her compassion, faith, and commitment to excellence set her apart, making her a true standout both academically and personally.

Caroline Harrison – S.P. Arnett Middle School
Middle School Student of the Year

Caroline Harrison is an exceptional student whose leadership and kindness positively shape the culture at S.P. Arnett Middle School. She serves as President of Beta Club, Secretary of Student Council, and a dedicated advocate for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Caroline is also a standout athlete in volleyball, golf, and basketball, known for her determination, teamwork, and grit. With aspirations to attend Louisiana Tech University and become a pulmonologist, she hopes one day to help discover a cure for cystic fibrosis.

Kathryn Armentor – Iowa High School
High School Student of the Year

At Iowa High School, Kathryn Armentor exemplifies what it means to be “ALL IN.” A strong student, servant leader, and role model, she leads with integrity and enthusiasm. Kathryn serves as Cheer Captain, 4-H President, and NHS Historian, and she proudly represents the school and community as the Calcasieu Cattlemen’s Queen. Her accomplishments reflect a deep commitment to hard work, faith, and community service.
