Calcasieu Parish School Board Celebrates Remarkable Growth and Success in 2025 Advanced Placement (AP) Scores

Following this week’s release of the 2025 College Board Advanced Placement (AP) scores, the Calcasieu Parish School Board is proud to announce outstanding growth and success among AP students.

“We are so proud of the AP results from this year,” said Superintendent Dr. Jason VanMetre. “This just shows how hard teachers and students in Calcasieu Parish work, and the results speak for themselves. The opportunities these students are gaining for college credit give them a leg up and prepare them for their future.”

This year, 1,380 AP exams were taken by CPSB students, an increase from 1,292 in 2024. The percentage of students earning a score of 3 or higher, which earns them college credit, rose significantly from 62.7% in 2024 to 77.1% in 2025.

“Over the last few years, AP participation and scores have continued to grow and improve,” said Dr. Lorri Caldwell, Administrative Coordinator of Advanced Studies. “It’s exciting to see our students challenging themselves by taking Advanced Placement courses and putting in the work to earn these kinds of scores. This kind of success stems from the support of parents, high school administrators, AP teachers, and CPSB leadership, who all work together to provide the best possible opportunities for our students.”

The following AP exams saw 100% of CPSB students earning a score of three or higher:

  • AP Microeconomics
  • AP Music Theory
  • AP Physics C: Mechanics
  • AP Seminar—Capstone
  • AP Research—Capstone
  • AP World History: Modern

Additionally, the following courses saw 90–99% of students earning college-credit eligible scores:

  • AP Precalculus
  • AP Calculus AB
  • AP Calculus BC
  • AP Chemistry
  • AP Spanish Language and Culture

These impressive results showcase the district’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and college readiness. The Calcasieu Parish School Board extends heartfelt congratulations to every student who participated in AP coursework, along with deep gratitude to the dedicated teachers who inspire and guide them.
